A practical approach to missing requirements

Make outstanding work visible, assign an owner, and retain the context needed for review.

A missing signature can lead to repeated calls when the request, owner, and response are recorded in different places. Begin with one application and the exact item requested; do not ask a customer to resend an entire file when one page is missing. Start by recording the exact requirement and the source of the request. Assign an owner and a next action, then keep the application timeline updated. In our fictional example, IF-1042 needs a customer signature. Agent Smith prepares the follow-up, a supervisor reviews the response, and the requirement remains open until the simulated carrier acknowledges acceptance. Review and acknowledgement are different steps.
